The Sadness of Egrets
By Wang Yongli
The mist has dispersed in the morning light,
The lake and the sea with two egrets dancing is alight,
A rainbow appears when the sun shines on the spray,
The two beautiful long feathers birds sing and play.
Against necks, touch each other with the white wing,
A kiss after a kiss in the midst of the wooing,
The two hearts join together with glee,
The vow busts into chatters over the sea.
The hill stands out against the spangled sky,
Side by side, the elegant birds closely fly,
Never notice the sun shining so bright,
Never notice things going so right.
But since the wasted water into the lake and the sea,
Gone the good days and the two love birds have to flee,
Left two broken eggs at the nest in the willow,
Only the sadness remains in the stained snow...
